Praxis & Purpose
This demi-couture garment was very special to me, in that it represents a cerebral connection between an artist and a curator.
Listening to Ms. Joyous talk about her process and creating the Shifting Gazes exhibit inspired me to create a snapshot of what it would be to be in her brain. I am pleased to say that I achieved that.
We chose black denim, cotton, and satin taffeta to construct the garment. The cording was placed then hand-stitched to the bodice to hold it in place. A zipper was also added for practicality and a wide leg was preferred for versatility.
